Optimizing The Getup - Part 10: Programming The Getup

Throughout the past 10 weeks we've written specifically about one exercise, the Getup.

Each post to this point has focused on a specific aspect of the Getup and has shared tips on how you can optimize your Getup.

Well, all that's left to do now is to train it!

Optimizing The Getup - Part 9: Get Down To Tall Sit and To The Floor

Last week we broke down getting down from a standing position to half-kneeling and from half-kneeling to three-point stance.

The biggest takeaways being

  • Slow down

  • Retrace your steps

  • And “Hit the Hip”

Optimizing The Getup - Part 6: Half-Kneeling

A little more than half way through this 10-part series, this week we’re closing out the ground-based movements with the transition from three-point stance to half-kneeling.

Last week we broke down 3 different areas the leg sweep stresses:

  • Shoulder Stability

  • Hip Mobility

  • Core Strength

... As well as 3 different ways you can perform and train the leg sweep

  • High Bridge

  • Low Sweep

  • Pause-Sweep

If you missed Part 5 on The Leg Sweep, you can check that out here.

This week we're going to cover two different ways you can perform the transition from three-point stance to half-kneeling.
