The Ultimate Guide To Strength, Health, and Happiness
You’re at your wits end with your health. You’ve tried a number of different options; home workouts, the local “Y”, “Bootcamps”... but you just can’t seem to find the program that’s right for you. Sound familiar?
the back and forth from program to program doesn’t make it any easier for you. how are you supposed to achieve your health and fitness goals?
You might think you’re alone in this feeling, but guess what; you’re not.
A lot of people struggle with the very same problem you do and the solution is far simpler than you’d think.
At Evolution we pride ourselves first in meeting people where they are and second in helping them live stronger, healthier, happier lives.
We’ve worked with professional athletes and high-level execs… but how relatable are their experiences in health and fitness to yours?
You have a busy schedule, kids to cart around, and minimal time to focus on yourself...
Keeping that in mind we came up with “The Ultimate Guide To Strength, Health, and Happiness” and today we’ll go over 5 strategies you can practice to start living a stronger, healthier, happier life today!
Step 1: Choose Something That Speaks To Your Gut
Change itself is difficult. It doesn’t matter that the change you’re seeking is for the better…
You WILL encounter ups and downs. Your dedication WILL be tested. And no matter how motivated you are to make a change now… at some point you’re going to say to yourself, “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
For that reason you NEED to make sure whatever journey you choose to embark on resonates with your gut - your emotions.
Just because one program works for your best friend doesn’t mean it’ll work for you or that you’ll even enjoy it.
So, how do you know what’s right for you?
Do some research.
Use Google and Yelp to search for reviews
Look at their website to make sure they have a proven process for helping people like yourself.
Then, give it try.
Most places will at the very least give you a free visit to come in and check it out (At Evolution we give you an entire week!).
When you go in for your free visit, ask a ton of questions.
Think of it as a marriage; you need to first get an idea as to whether or not you want to date the person before you commit to something long-term…
Step 2: Find Time In Your Schedule To Show Up on a Regular Basis
Once you’ve found a program that resonates with your emotions, you’ve researched it, confirmed they have a proven program for helping people like you reach their goals, and tried them out, it’s time to put in the work.
Without question the most challenging aspect of significant life change comes in the form of finding time in your schedule to actually do what it is you want to do.
You’ll have ALL SORTS of obstacles and hurdles to overcome…
And yourself and your emotions (you won’t feel like a million bucks everyday)
If you expect to live a stronger, healthier, happier life then there’s no way around this; you NEED to find time in your schedule every week to do what you’ve researched and determined you want to commit to.
Whatever day of the week your week starts on, sit down the day before and plan out your week ahead.
Note where you have meetings, family events, plans with friends, and oh yeah that thing called “work” and Find Time in your schedule for yourself to commit to whatever it is you decided to commit to.
A special note; it doesn’t matter whether you’re trying to live a stronger, healthier, happier life or trying to learn a new language… you’ll NEED to find time in your schedule every day, every week, to commit to your practice if you expect to see long-term results.
Step 3: Show Up
You’ve chosen what it is you want to commit to. You’ve found time in your schedule to show up every day, every week. All that’s left now is to SHOW UP.
It sounds pretty self explanatory; I mean really just show up!
However you already know how difficult “showing up” can be…
If you stick to Steps 1 and 2, you’ll stand a MUCH better chance at actually showing up to your practice daily, weekly, and monthly.
However if you’re like most people, you probably don’t do steps 1 and 2…
Maybe you choose a program because your friend vouched for you, but deep down it didn’t resonate with who you are and your emotions.
When times get tough - and they will - and you need to choose between going out with friends or sleeping in over your practice, you’ll 100% of the time choose the former.
Find Time in your schedule and do everything possible to stick to your schedule!
Keep the goal the goal.
80% of success is simply showing up.
If you’ve researched your program and validated that they have a proven process for helping people like yourself get results, then they’ll take care of the rest for you.
All you need to do is show up consistently.
Step 4: Expect Ups and Downs
If you practice the first 3 steps religiously you might expect that your road to success will be a free flowing, breeze in the wind…
For some, maybe? But for most? Definitely not. Why?
Because of this thing called, “life.”
Life always seems to and will always get in the way - and at the most inopportune times.
Which is again why it’s SUPER important that you adhere to steps 1, 2, and 3 without question.
You WILL encounter obstacles.
Your commitment to your 5pm workout will get tested because your kid will get sick and need to get picked up from school.
Your commitment to your 5:30am practice will get tested because you had family and friends in town for the week and stayed up later than usual.
Even if 80% of the time you still find a way to stay committed, it’s only a matter of time before you just can’t hold your commitment to yourself.
When that happens, DON’T let that become the “new norm”…
Obstacles and hurdles will constantly present themselves. Because you miss one workout that doesn’t mean that you’ve failed...
Because you miss one workout that doesn’t mean that you can’t continue doing what you were doing the other 52 workouts before that...
No matter how well you adhere to steps 1, 2, and 3 just know that you’re going to get knocked down a few times.
If you’re pursuing significant life change, then expect your grit to be tested early and often.
Step 5: Persist and Resist
Because you’re going to get knocked down Step 5 is perhaps the most important step.
To quote Ryan Holiday from his book, The Obstacle Is The Way...
You must continue to persist in your efforts and resist in giving into distractions.
Again you might look at your role model and think to yourself, “Oh, if only I had more money I could achieve my goals.”
“If I had a schedule like her I’d be in the best shape of my life.”
Maybe... but below the surface what you can’t see is that the same person you’re idealizing experiences the same struggles you do, only on a different level.
No matter how wealthy you are or how “free” your schedule might appear to be, deep down you still have to stick to steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 to succeed long-term.
You must find something that resonates with your emotions.
You must find time in your schedule to stay committed.
You must show up consistently to your commitment.
You need to know that there are going to be ups and downs along the way
And you must persist and resist in the face of adversity.
There simply is no sugarcoating it…
So, there you have it. Your Ultimate Guide To Strength, Health, and Happiness.
